First BOMA 360 Certified Building in Georgia - The Hurt Building

The Hurt Building recently became the first BOMA 360 certified building in the state of Georgia. The BOMA 360 Performance Program is a groundbreaking new program designed to validate and recognize commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in all major areas of building operations and management. A BOMA 360 Performance Building designates that a property is being managed to the highest standards of excellence. The Hurt Building is owned by Hurt Financial Associates LLC and is managed by Harbor Group Management Company, where Shannon Westberg is the general manager.

2009 BOMA-Atlanta Holiday Social Update

BOMA recognizes that during the holiday season, there are many opportunities to celebrate with your family, friends and colleagues. Considering this, and the current economic environment, the BOMA-Atlanta Board of Directors has decided to discontinue the BOMA Holiday Social, effective this year. Going Green Has Never Been Easier!
GREEN Real Estate Summit 2010


The GREEN Real Estate Summit 2010, presented by BOMA-Atlanta, will be held Feb. 16 and 17 at the Green Seal Certified Emory Conference Center Hotel. The GREEN Real Estate Summit is the first meeting of its kind in the state of Georgia. It brings together commercial real estate owners, property managers, facility managers, building engineers and companies providing green products and services to learn about the benefits of utilizing sustainable practices. Specifically, the event will focus on sustainable operations and maintenance of existing buildings.

In addition to a handful of educational sessions, the GREEN Real Estate Summit will feature a GREEN Showcase, where vendors will exhibit products and services that can assist in the sustainable operations and maintenance of existing buildings. 2009-2010 (TOBY) / Earth Award Competition Now Open!
 
The TOBY Award and Earth Award programs are the most prestigious and comprehensive awards programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in office buildings and awarding excellence in building management and environmental stewardship.  The TOBY Award recognizes all facets of a building's operations, including tenant relations programs, community involvement, emergency preparedness, security standards, and continuing education for building personnel. The Earth Award recognizes excellence in environmentally sound office building management. For those interested in learning more about how to enter a building, understanding the judging process, and hearing tips for making your entry the best it can be, join us for the TOBY/Earth Award Entrant Workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 from 8:30 to 9:30a.m. The session will be held in the BOMA-Atlanta Conference Center and  is free to attend for both members and non-members, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  Seats are limited to 30 attendees. BOMA-Atlanta Freezes Membership Dues

BOMA-Atlanta has frozen membership dues for 2010 at the current 2009 level. Freezing membership dues is one step in a series of efforts BOMA-Atlanta is making to serve members during this difficult economic environment. The association has also offered a variety of free and low-cost educational programs for members and also continues to provide value to building owners through government advocacy.
 

BOMI Introduces New Computer Based Testing

Starting January 1, 2010, BOMI is moving to computer-based testing for all courses. With this change, there will be a $60 additional BOMI fee for each test taken on computer under the new BOMI testing system. HR Laws and Career Growth Issues for Managers

(December 9) This seminar will cover the legal aspects of employee management, including equal employment opportunity issues, illegal harassment on the job, labor relations, wage and hour laws, and occupational safety and health issues.The seminar is part of the BOMA-Atlanta Human Resources Management program. Commercial HVAC - Fifth Semester

(January 7) Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC course provides an opportunity to enhance service skills through hands-on training. The course will enable beginning engineers and those with experience to become more proficient in the work environment. This is the fifth in a five-semester series. You are not required to take the semesters in sequence.

January BOMA Luncheon
