2009 Atlanta International Environmental Trade Mission

Join Mayor Shirley Franklin at the 2009 Atlanta International Environmental Trade Mission on June 8 - 12. The event will bring together Atlanta's economic development stakeholders and international market representatives to exchange information, facilitate collaboration and identify potential environmental economic development opportunities in "green" business development. BOMA International Publications

The 2008 Experience Exchange Report (EER) is available in book and CD-ROM form from BOMA International. Use the EER to demonstrate how efficiently you manage your building. City of Atlanta Recycling and Materials Recommendations

Recently, the City of Atlanta has created a Recycling and Materials Management Stakeholder Task Force. BOMA-Atlanta has obtained a seat on the task force and is the only commercial real estate nonprofit group on the task force. New LEED Program Launched

On April 27, the U.S. Green Buildings Council launched its new LEED 2009 program, including LEED Online. LEED projects may be registered under the new or the old LEED rating system until June 27, 2009. Under the new program, LEED project registration and certification will transition to the Green Building Certification Institute, which administers the LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) program, and some LEED AP exams will be discontinued. Please note the following important exam dates.
  • May 2009: new LEED Green Associate and LEED AP Operations and Maintenance exams are launched
  • June 2009: new LEED AP Homes exam is launched
  • June 30, 2009: LEED AP New Construction and LEED AP Commercial Interiors exams are retired (last day to take these exams)
  • Fall 2009: new LEED AP Building Design and Construction and LEED AP Interior Design and Construction exams are launched.


BOMA-Atlanta Endorses the 7 Point Challenge

Recently, BOMA-Atlanta endorsed BOMA International's Market Transformation Energy Plan and 7-Point Challenge to reduce energy consumption in commercial buildings by 30 percent by 2012.  BOMA-Atlanta would like to encourage Georgia companies to take part in this program and join over 100 BOMA member companies and local associations in committing to make improved energy performance a priority.

BOMA-Atlanta Launches Young Professionals Events

Are you 35 and under and looking to advance your career in the commerical real estate industry? 2009 BOMA-Atlanta Trade Show

(May 20) The BOMA-Atlanta Trade Show is the largest one-day gathering of its kind of Atlanta building owners, managers and vendors. All property managers, facility managers, building engineers and are encouraged to attend the event. No registration is required to attend the trade Show. The trade show will be held at the Cobb Galleria Centre from 9 a.m. to  4:30 p.m.

Young Professionals Educational Series:  After Hours

(June 2) This event is designed for young professionals age 35 and under. The program will be held at the Hudson Grille and include an
