How Green Is My Building Webinar. (January 14) This is the fourth BOMA SOS Webinar. It will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and will provide you with tools for measuring the total ROI of sustainability — from impacts on NOI and asset value to tenant satisfaction. You will explore tools that are available for tracking the range of performance measures for sustainable initiatives; find out strategies for communicating the many types of ROI of sustainability to a range of building constituents — owners, asset managers, brokers, tenants and prospects; learn how to leverage green initiatives to enhance your building's appeal to potential tenants; and prepare to sustain your sustainability by identifying opportunities to continuously improve the building's performance in critical sustainability initiatives. For more information or to register, click here.
Commercial HVAC Course--Second Semester. (January 15) Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC course provides an opportunity to enhance service skills through hands-on training. The course will enable beginning engineers and those with experience to become more proficient in the work environment. Course topics will include commercial refrigeration systems, energy management, DDC controls, pneumatic calibration, cooling tower maintenance, air handlers, pumps, boilers, water and air balancing and other topics. A certificate of completion will be issued to show attendance and completion of the required material. This is the second course in a five-semester series. The class may be taken in any order.
Fundamentals of Real Property Administration. (January 28) To fulfill the role of property manager in today's marketplace, you must be knowledgeable in many areas. You are expected to manage buildings; communicate with employees, managers, and tenants; protect the interests of the owner; market property; negotiate leases; and protect the environment. By providing an overview of the property management profession, this course helps you understand, and integrate, the many duties and responsibilities of a property manager.
Refrigeration Systems and Accessories. (February 25) Maintaining the proper comfort level in an office environment is essential for tenant satisfaction. Refrigeration equipment is a key component of an air-conditioning system that must be properly maintained and operated at maximum efficiency. This course reviews the basic refrigeration cycle and refrigeration system components, as well as how to operate and maintain reciprocating and absorption refrigeration systems. You will gain the skills and knowledge to describe the principles of refrigeration and identify the performance characteristics of refrigeration components. You will also learn how to establish maintenance processes and troubleshooting techniques. Major topics covered in this course include refrigeration cycles and principles, mechanical components of refrigeration systems and systematic troubleshooting.
