Date Change. The dates of the upcoming Security Seminar Series have changed. The title of the seminar series has also been changed to better reflect the seminar content. The new dates are as follows: Emergency Plan Components, January 25, 2007; Emergency Plan Development, February 22, 2007; Emergency Plan Testing and Tabletop Exercises, March 22, 2007. Registration is now available at www.boma-atlanta.org

Fundamentals of Real Property Administration, Accelerated Course. (Nov. 15) To fulfill the role of property manager in today's marketplace, you must be knowledgeable in many areas. You are expected to manage buildings; communicate with employees, managers, and tenants; protect the interests of the owner; market property; negotiate leases; and protect the environment. By providing an overview of the property management profession, this course helps you understand, and integrate, the many duties and responsibilities of a property manager. 

Budgeting and Accounting, Accelerated Course. (Dec. 6) Learn how to follow the accounting process and creation of a budget from start to finish, learning such valuable skills as how to interpret financial statements, annual reports, and statements of cash flows. And learn practical skills such as how to compile lease abstracts and prepare rent rolls. The course also includes exercises pertaining to computing productivity ratios, depreciation, ending cash balances, preparing income and expense budgets, and explaining budget variances.

Design, Operation and Maintenance Part 2, Accelerated Course. (Dec. 13) This course provides information property and facility managers need to make management decisions about various building systems and sites, decisions that will increase occupant safety and comfort while facilitating building efficiency to meet the business goals of an organization. The course provides an understanding of electrical systems and lighting, elevator maintenance and modernization, and pest and solid waste management. It also covers security issues, fire and safety systems, and energy management concerns.

BOMA Luncheon and Annual Meeting. (Nov. 8) The featured speaker at the November Luncheon and Annual Meeting will be Henry Chamberlain, who is with BOMA International. The sponsor is Mid America Metals.

BOMA Bash. (Nov. 16) BOMA Bash is an informal social and networking opportunity for property managers, facility managers and building engineers, hosted by a select group of allied member sponsors. There is no charge to attend the event, although advance registration is required. 

Holiday Social Sponsored by Allied Barton Security Services. (Dec. 7) Celebrate the holiday season while networking with your colleagues. 

BTO Luncheon. (Dec. 7 & Dec. 14) This educational program has been designed specifically for building engineers. The same program will be presented on Dec. 7 at the Loudermilk Center downtown and Dec. 14 at the AGC office in Marietta. BTO members are required to pre-register for the luncheon.
