BOMA-ATLANTA NEWS

BOMA International Embraces Top 10 List. In response to the record-breaking Georgia drought, BOMA-Atlanta created a top 10 list of water conservation tips for building owners, property and facility managers and building engineers. BOMA International has embraced this list, posting it on the Industry Insights section of the BOMA International Web site--the first time a local BOMA has been honored in this way. Recently, BOMA International also included the list in BOMA's Earth Day packets in recognition of BOMA-Atlanta's leadership in conservation. To read the top 10 list, click here.

Important Elevator Inspection Information. Although the legislative season ended April 4, BOMA-Atlanta continues to play an active role in public policy debates. For the first time in 10 years, we were approached by the Georgia Department of Labor’s (DOL) Safety and Engineering division to sit in on important elevator inspection meetings. To increase the efficiency of elevator inspections, the DOL recommends that all property owners and managers maintain print outs of all electronic elevator inspection records that can be easily accessed and presented to elevator inspectors upon request on-site. Failure to comply with the on-site hardcopy rule will result in a fee and the non-compliant company will be required at the next inspection to present on-site hardcopies of six months' worth of up-to-date records, starting on the date of the non-compliance. This process is then repeated in shortened intervals until compliance is assured. For more information about the DOL's Safety and Engineering division, click here.

Get Involved in Community Service. On April 25, the BOMA-Atlanta Community Service Committee hosted the second annual fundraising luncheon for Hillside at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. At the event, $15,535 was raised for Hillside, Atlanta's oldest organized charity. The next community service event is the BOMA-Atlanta/Hillside Mountain outing on May 17. This annual event involves meeting the Hillside children and staff at a ranch in the north Georgia mountains outside of Ellijay. Volunteers can schedule full-day, morning or afternoon involvement to help set-up, monitor, administer or breakdown events. For more information, please contact Patti Brown with SERVPRO at pbrown@servpro8537.com.

Two BOMA-Atlanta Members Named Pacesetters. In the April 18-24 issue, the Atlanta Business Chronicle named two BOMA-Atlanta member companies among Atlanta's 50 fastest-growing private companies setting the pace for growth. For the second straight year in a row, the Business Chronicle named SecurAmerica the number-one Atlanta pacesetter. Lanier Parking was named the number twenty-seven pacesetter. Congratulations, SecurAmerica and Lanier Parking!
