BOMA-ATLANTA NEWS
Invest in Leadership through the BOMA-Atlanta Leadership Academy. The rapid pace of change in today’s commercial real estate environment demands that the managers of today become the leaders of tomorrow. To address this shift, we have created the BOMA-Atlanta Leadership Academy. The Academy is designed for all property and facility managers, and for building engineers who have management responsibilities. A class of 20 to 22 BOMA-Atlanta members will be selected for the 2008 Academy. BOMA membership is required to participate. If you or someone you know would be a good candidate for the Academy, contact Gabriel Eckert at geckert@boma-atlanta.org. For more information or to download an application form, click here. Applications are due February 29.
Sign up Now for a 2008 BOMA-Atlanta Committee. Make the most of your BOMA-Atlanta membership by joining a committee. Participating in a committee is one of the best ways to meet other members outside of BOMA events. To sign up for a committee, download and complete a committee sign-up form, and send your form to Beth Abbott via fax at 404-475-9987, or via mail at 2987 Clairmont Road, N.E., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30329.

A certificate of completion will be issued to show attendance and completion of the required material. The classes may be taken in conjunction with SMA classes or any other seminars.
Terrorism and Bombing Awareness Symposium. (January 17). Terrorism and bombing awareness is critical for those in the property management industry. BOMA-Atlanta is partnering with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) through the Homeland Security Task Force and ASIS to offer a Terrorism and Bombing Awareness Symposium. Design, Operation and Maintenance, Part I. (Febuary 27) This course provides the information property and facility managers need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems and to maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also provides information on building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials and HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning) systems. Other areas covered in the course include roofing systems, ceilings and floorings, interior walls and plumbing systems.
Intelligent NextGen Buildings: Combining Technology with Improved Building Systems. (February 28). Building aren't just bricks and mortar anymore. Today's "intelligent buildings" incorporate building automation, structured cabling, wireless systems and controls, remote operations, digital signage and touch-screen directories, flexible design, automated parking and paperless business processes--all for an enhanced tenant experience and improved operating results. This exciting, fast-paced seminar will take you through the evolution of the intelligent building, describe the components that define these projects, present international case studies and define the methodology for establishing ROI. This course is a must-attend primer for building owners, developers, property managers, architects, facility managers, engineers, system integrators and consultants.
