This is the fourth course in the five-semester series. Semester courses are topic-specific and may be taken out of sequence. A certificate of completion will be issued to show attendance and completion of the required material. The classes may be taken in conjunction with SMA classes or any other seminars.
Design, Operation and Maintenance, Part I. (Febuary 27) This course provides the information property and facility managers need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems and to maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also provides information on building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials and HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning) systems. Other areas covered in the course include roofing systems, ceilings and floorings, interior walls and plumbing systems.
Intelligent NextGen Buildings: Combining Technology with Improved Building Systems. (February 28). Building aren't just bricks and mortar anymore. Today's "intelligent buildings" incorporate building automation, structured cabling, wireless systems and controls, remote operations, digital signage and touch-screen directories, flexible design, automated parking and paperless business processes--all for an enhanced tenant experience and improved operating results. This exciting, fast-paced seminar will take you through the evolution of the intelligent building, describe the components that define these projects, present international case studies and define the methodology for establishing ROI. This course is a must-attend primer for building owners, developers, property managers, architects, facility managers, engineers, system integrators and consultants.
