BOMA-ATLANTA NEWS
BOMA-Atlanta Is Moving. The BOMA-Atlanta office will be closed for the move May 30-31, and will reopen in the new location June 1 at 2987 Clairmont Road, N.E., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30329. Most June courses will be held at our new location. Our phone and fax numbers will stay the same. Help celebrate the move to our new office at the BOMA Open House on July 26 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

BOMA-Atlanta Trade Show a Success. A special thanks to all the sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, attendees and volunteers who made the May 11 Trade Show at the Cobb Galleria a huge success. The BTO Breakfast, BOMA Luncheon and trade show booths were all sold out, and the Silent Auction raised much-needed money for Hillside, Atlanta's oldest charity.

Jobs Available. Check out the BOMA-Atlanta job bank and see what jobs are currently open. And if you are an employer, consider posting your job online. You'll also get access to property manager, facility manager and building engineer resumes on file.

UPCOMING EDUCATIONAL COURSES
Click on the course title to register. Dates listed are course start dates. Starting in June, most courses will be held at BOMA-Atlanta's new location on Clairmont Road.

Technologies for Facility Management. (June 6) When used properly, technology can significantly enhance the performance of your facilities. This course will help you better understand the impact of technology on both workers and the workplace. You will gain the knowledge to evaluate your current technological services and systems, as well as to determine the appropriate technologies your portfolio requires. You will learn about hardware, software, telecommunications systems, computer-aided facility management, security systems, and much more.

Administration. (June 13) Develop a variety of skills related to managing people and time. This course focuses on leadership skills, oral communication techniques, motivational and team-building strategies, and training programs. Through the course, you will develop skills needed by managers in a maintenance environment, including the ability to plan, organize, schedule, delegate, budget, monitor, inspect, document and write.

BOMA PM 201. (June 25) Take your property management skills to the next level. This course is the next step for those who have completed PM 101 or who have experience in the property management field. The five-day course will be taught over five consecutive weeks to teach you necessary skills in accounting and reporting, leasing and marketing, risk management, emergency planning and overall property management.

Law and Risk Management. (June 27) In today's complex business environment, it is becoming increasingly important for property managers to know how to address legal and risk management issues. This course will provide you with a foundation in the basic principles of law and risk management. In addition to covering leasing, the course covers important issues concerning torts, contracts, employer/employee relations, property rights and environmental law. The course describes the risk management process, covering assessment of loss exposures and handling daily risks that property managers encounter. You will learn about the insurance market, different types of insurance policies and the claims adjustment process. The course also covers equipment breakdown insurance, which is an area of growing concern for real estate managers.

Asset Management. (July 11) Property managers today work hand-in-hand with asset managers and often serve as asset managers themselves. Therefore, you need to understand the asset manager's role, function and place in real estate and business. This course will detail the role and responsibilities of an asset manager, as well as provide you with the skills to fulfill this position. You will learn to develop an asset management plan, including appropriate human, physical and financial resources. You will learn about the measurement of financial objectives, including audits and reasons for them. You will gain an understanding of property acquisition, disposition and evaluation of troubled property alternatives.
