Design Operation and Maintenance Part I. (May 16) This course provides information property and facility managers need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems and to maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also provides information on building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials, and HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning) systems. Other areas covered in the course include roofing systems, ceilings and floorings, interior walls, and plumbing systems.

Technologies for Facility Management. (June 6) When used properly, technology can significantly enhance the performance of your facilities. This course will help you better understand the impact of technology on both workers and the workplace. You will gain the knowledge to evaluate your current technological services and systems, as well as to determine the appropriate technologies your portfolio requires. You will learn about hardware, software, telecommunications systems, computer-aided facility management, security systems, and much more.

Administration. (June 13) Develop a variety of skills related to managing people and time. This course focuses on leadership skills, oral communication techniques, motivational and team-building strategies, and training programs. Through the course, you will develop skills needed by managers in a maintenance environment, including the ability to plan, organize, schedule, delegate, budget, monitor, inspect, document and write.

BOMA-Atlanta Trade Show. (May 11) The Trade Show will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm. on Friday, May 11 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. All property managers, facility managers, building engineers and exhibiting allied representatives are encouraged to attend the event. No registration is required to attend the Trade Show. Non-exhibiting allied representatives are not allowed on the Trade Show floor. The Trade Show will also be closed during the BOMA Luncheon. 

BTO Breakfast. (May 11) The BOMA Technical Organization (BTO) and Superior Commercial Roofing are sponsoring a breakfast for building engineers in conjunction with the BOMA trade show on May 11, 2007. The breakfast will include a seminar on a topic of special interest to building engineers. Registration is limited to building engineers and is free of charge to BTO members; however, pre-registration is required to attend the event to ensure that the correct number of meals are ordered. 

May BOMA Luncheon. (May 11) The May Luncheon is sponsored by SecurAmerica. The luncheon topic will be Recruiting and Identifying Future Leaders, and the featured speaker will be Debby Byrnes, CPC, from LMS Intellibound Inc. Debby will speak about streamlined recruiting processes, the use of the KOLBE method in assessment and SCI-FI recruiting based upon your predictions of future recruiting activities/models. BOMA luncheons are enjoyable and educational. They are also a valuable networking and professional development experience. 

Energy Star Regional Networking Event. (May 16) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency invites you to attend this one-day networking event. By attending the meeting, you will learn about and discuss best practices, lessons learned, and energy performance achievements in the commercial and institutional markets. The event is co-sponsored by BOMA-Atlanta.
